Dear CDP community,

We’ve missed you–and in our brief absence, we’ve gone out and made more friends– so to those of you we met this Saturday at Throw Down for the Town, welcome to the CDP community!
We’ve been spending time reflecting on our organizing strategy, and are excited to report on the following happenings in the recent past and near future:
*We spent a sunny day tabling at Ella Baker Center’s “Throw Down for the Town” festivities at Snow Park. We brought out our “Oakland Budget Jeopardy” game, and the crowd went wild. Thanks to those of you who stopped by and chatted with us.

*As you may have heard, our own Shawn McDougal helped coach a “Hack the Budget” app to victory at Code for Oakland on July 21st. We’re working with a talented group of developers, creative folks, and data wizards to bring the app to life. If that sounds like your kind of thing, join us! We’ll be meeting again tomorrow, Wednesday Aug.1 at Tech Liminal, on 14th Street at Alice.
*This Saturday, we’ll be hitting the streets near Art and Soul to talk to folks about local decision making and the issues they care about. We’ll have a little survey in hand, and some video/audio tricks up our sleeve. Stopping by the festival? Want to join forces? Give Shawn a call at 626-676-3636 and find our street team. We’ll be meeting up downtown, location TBD, around noon.
*We’re looking for opportunities to table at more events or speak to gatherings of folks. Know of an event we should be at? Let us know! We’re putting together our August and September calendars now.
Thanks for all of your support and enthusiasm,
The CDP Team
